FAT JACK opened his Beach Bar in the early 70’s in North Myrtle beach next to FAT HAROLD’s.  The group ALABAMA remembers the good times in their 1997 CD with “Dancin on the Boulevard.”  Eventually the beach bar closed and a retired police officer from Syracuse New York opened FAT JACK’s on Lake Arrowhead in Myrtle Beach.  The bar ambiance remained but he introduced the Original Buffalo Wings to locals and beach visitors as a novelty from his home.

With the growth of the area, a new home was found at the back gate of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.  FAT JACK’s again became a popular hang-out, this time for servicemen and women and flight crews on stand-by.  A few more flavors were added and locals continued to develop a taste for Buffalo Wings.

The closure of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base had an economic impact with the area departure of so many of FAT JACK’s customers.  FAT JACK’s was on the move again… to its present location in 1994.

Through a succession of owners, each adding their special touch, FAT JACK’s has become a household name and continues to receive community recognition and awards for “BEST OF THE BEACH” wings.

The good news is Fat Jack’s will remain a Myrtle Beach favorite.  The best news is, its new owner will be keeping Fat Jack’s as is; from the awesome wings and the German beer to Maria’s warm touch and yes, the ceiling tiles.  Purchased by Robert Kemp (“Junior”)  and much support and love from  family, he will take ownership January 3, 2013.   Originally from New Jersey he fell in love with the southern hospitality and has settled into the area nicely.

With plans to expand hours, locals and visitors will enjoy Fat Jack’s delicious menu and family atmosphere.  The menu will remain the same and include additions like ‘Sauce of the Month’ and other “Junior” specials.  The secret recipes that made Fat Jack’s “The Best Wings on the Beach” will remain a secret and will not change.

Junior invites the regulars, the locals and visitors to stop by Fat Jack’s and say ‘Hello’.  The friendly, familiar staff echo the invite and together they look forward to serving you for many years to come.
